I was away on Monday because my grandma passed away, but I was thankful for all the hugs and prayers from the students, they were so sweet as they expressed care for me. They bring me so much joy! Weekly Update

Well it was a beautiful week … until our field trip on Friday! We had a great field trip to the Local Harvest, and the rain mostly held off. We took a little barrel tour, visited the animals, went through all the greenhouses, and planted our own tomato plants, all while learning lots!  Thanks to all the parents that were able to join us. We have been busy this week working on our creative stories and researching/writing our science reports about different insects. We started learning about perimeter in math, using both non-standard and nonstandard units of measure.  An assembly this week taught us about Digital Safety … including information about what is safe/unsafe to share online, as well as how being kind online is also important.  Lots happening! I hope you all have a wonderful weekend.

Friday Update

A great week, that ended with a  field trip to the Blue Heron reserve.  The students had so much fun on the scavenger hunt, exploring and playing.  We were so grateful that the rain held off! A huge thank you to all the parents that came and helped us out by taking a group. This week, for Math, the students had to use their knowledge of fractions to escape from a deserted island. They were working in teams and had to complete obstacles in order to be rescued. It was great to see them work together to complete these challenges. They also used their knowledge about fractions to ‘Run an Ice Cream Shop’ this week. This requires them to plan and set up, and figure out all the details needed. In Science we have been learning about ecosystems. Students have been working hard on a poster where they choose one of the three levels of ecosystems. On their poster they have to define it, give three examples and draw a detailed picture of that ecosystem. They have enjoyed this and have worked really hard on it. Chapel this week also held some excitement. The Guatemala team came to share about their trip over Spring Break. They shared about their experiences, sang some Spanish songs, and shared a special treat with them. It was exciting to talk and hear about their trip. I hope that you all have a wonderful weekend.

Matthew 28:5-8

The angel said to the women, “Do not be afraid, for I know that you are looking for Jesus, who was crucified. He is not here; he has risen, just as he said. Come and see the place where he lay. Then go quickly and tell his disciples: ‘he has risen from the dead and is going ahead of you into Galilee. There you will see him.’ Now I have told you.” So the women hurried away from the tomb, afraid yet filled with joy, and ran to tell his disciples.

Friday Update

First week back complete, and it was a great week. It was so awesome to hear all the excitement around Spring Break and what students had enjoyed doing. This week we spent some time talking about Easter and why we celebrate this day. We read through the story, and completed a craft; Mrs. Shinness taught them about Palm Sunday and what Hosanna means, and we reenacted what it may have been like for Jesus as he entered Jerusalem (in chapel); and we had a school wide Easter service this afternoon. I hope that you all enjoy the Easter long weekend, remembering and reflecting on all that Jesus accomplished for us by going to the cross!
