We are starting our Bible Memory for October. We will be working on memorizing Psalm 23:1-6. We will work on it together as a class, but I would encourage you to also be practicing it with your child at home. Students will recite their memory verse to me at the end of the month.

The Lord is my shepherd, I lack nothing.  He makes me lie down in green pastures,
he leads me beside quiet waters, he refreshes my soul. He guides me along the right paths for his name’s sake. Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for you are with me;
your rod and your staff,  they comfort me. You prepare a table before me  in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil;  my cup overflows. Surely your goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.

Rainy Days!

As the rainy season begins, we want to remind parents that students will head outdoors for recess, even in the rain. It is crucial that students are dressed appropriately for all types of weather. We kindly request that you ensure your child comes to school prepared with the necessary attire to stay dry and comfortable during rainy days.

Friday Update

We have had a great week in Grade Three. This week we read a book called “My Mouth is a Volcano” and we talked about calling out and interrupting … how does that make us feel, and how do others feel when we do it to them. It is important to remember that others have important things to share also, and so how can we demonstrate self-control when we feel like we are just erupting with things that need to be said. In Bible this week, we started talking about the Fruit of the Spirit. We talked about love and joy and how God can help us demonstrate those fruits, even when it may be hard. On Wednesday, we talked about Terry Fox. The students spent some time writing about why Terry Fox is a Canadian Hero, and the perseverance that he demonstrated in life. It has been a great week, and I hope you all have a wonderful weekend.

A full and exhausting week! We have been working hard, doing lots of review and laying solid groundwork,  setting ourselves up for a successful year ahead.  We had our first chapel this week, which was an all elementary chapel. We would like to remind everyone that our staff will be supervising the playground until 3:00. With the sunny weather, we have noticed an increase in the number of children and parents using the playground after school. At 3:00, our duty teachers will blow the whistle, signaling that ALL children need to leave the bark mulch and join their parents. For students without parents present, they will be directed to the lobby. Once the duty teachers blow their whistle three times, students who are with their parents can return to the playground. We appreciate your cooperation in ensuring the safety and well-being of all our students.

Welcome to Grade Three!

Welcome! I am looking forward to the year ahead and getting to know you and your children.

This is the place you will come to find out all kinds of information. Important dates, spelling words, Bible memory, and other pertinent information to what is going on in class. I will try and post every Friday with all the information for the week ahead. Please be sure to check in here and read through the information. You can always email me with further questions from there.

This week has been, and will continue to be, full of information; learning routines and rules in the classroom, as well as just getting to know each other.  I sent your child home today with an  “All About Me” page that I would love for you to take time to fill out. It helps me get a quick glimpse of your child so that we can start the year off well.

Please don’t hesitate to pop in and see me, or shoot me an email with anything you need.
