We have had a good week together. Watching Charlie and the Chocolate Factory was definitely a highlight. Thanks to those who sent treats for the class. We have been studying life cycles in Science, this week we talked about the Butterfly life cycle and wrote an animal report. They are looking forward to having some choice and writing their own animal reports next week.

• Home Reading
• May 26th will be the last day to sign out library books. They will be due back by June 2nd. After June 2nd the replacement cost of missing books will be billed to the students account.
• I will be away on Monday, May 15th
• The last scholastic book order has gone home. It will need to be returned by June 2nd so that your orders are in before the end of the year

We have been reading Charlie and the Chocolate Factory together as a class. The students have all loved it! We are almost done reading the book, and I would like to watch the movie together on Thursday, May 11th. It has been a busy week. We had Jeans Day, we went out to our Garden Box and planted some peas, carrots, and beans, field trip to the Blue Heron Reserve, an assembly on Fears and Worries. So a very full, but great week! Thanks to all the parents who joined us on the field trip this afternoon, it was a fun, although wet, afternoon!

Grandparent’s Day 

It is hard to believe that we are in the last week of April already … time is just flying by! We had Service Day this past week and we went on our garbage walk. The rain held off, which we were so thankful for, and we were able to pick up lots of garbage to help keep our streets clean.

• Highroad Academy Garden is hosting a Spring Market on April 21st from 2-4pm in the school foyer. Students will be selling Spring flowers, cupcakes and hand scrubs. Come out and support the Highroad Garden!

• Grandparents Day – Grandparents Day is coming up at the end of April. The students have all brought home invitations to give to their grandparents inviting them to our third annual tea. If they do not have any grandparents that are able to attend, they may have “surrogate” grandparents, or another relative come in their place.

We have had a great first week back and the students have all settled in nicely and worked hard. It was wonderful to hear all about everyone’s Spring Break and all the fun and rest that they were able to get.
